C-SHIELD

The C-Shield’s headband is made of “Ultrasoft” biodegradable closed-cell foam, meaning the pores in the foam are closed making it easier to fully clean.

We opted against open-cell foam, which most generic face shield headbands are made of, because it is almost impossible to properly clean.

Transmission primarily occurs when airborne particles are exposed to the eyes, nose and mouth. 

Studies show individuals spend 9% of their time touching their hair and face. 

We conducted airborne particulate and droplet splatter tests on the leading face shields in the market. After the tests, black lights showed where forehead and scalp were sprayed with the aerosol particles. The C-Shield’s test results had no evidence of contamination. 

While refining the C-Shield design, we got input from front-line nurses, surgeons, physicians, infectious control experts, and health and safety experts. The provincial health authority said the design met all measurement criteria.

The plastic in our shield is fully recyclable and our head bands incorporate biodegradable latex free foam that can be recycled. We designed a simple, yet effective, way to allow the user to assemble the headbands themselves. This simple step has helped to reduce the size, storage requirements and carbon footprint of our shipments and to keep the shields out of landfills.
